The Road: Finding Courage, Discovering Destiny

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Robert Frost describes the spiritual truth that each of our lives will at times diverge into two roads. Two very different roads. There is the road that most will take, and there is a road that leads us to our destiny.

On the road of life, destiny makes all the difference.

For the next few months, the content on our website and mobile app will be focused on helping all of our readers to understand and discover the destiny God has in mind for their lives. We can’t tell you what that destiny is, but we can certainly give you a road to it.

The Difference

12 Moses said to the Lord, “You have told me to lead these people, but you did not say whom you would send with me. You have said to me, ‘I know you very well, and I am pleased with you.’ 13 If I have truly pleased you, show me your plans so that I may know you and continue to please you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14 The Lord answered, “I myself will go with you, and I will give you victory.”

Moses was overwhelmed by the pressure of his responsibility, his decisions, and his pursuit of true greatness. Thinking about the uncertainty of the road ahead, Moses seems like he felt confused—maybe even frustrated. But deep inside, what he really felt was afraid.

Fear is powerful. It intimidates, oppresses, paralyzes, and condemns. It tries to work its way inside our hearts so we will throw in the towel and settle for a life of mediocrity rather than a life of purpose. Most devastating of all, fear attempts to make us forget the difference. Listening to Moses’ fear, God knew that Moses needed to be reminded of what made him different and capable of overcoming.

Our belief is that the biggest obstacle to people finding and fulfilling their destiny is fear. Everybody needs their own assurance and guide to conquer their fears and reach their destiny.

The 4 Fears:

Which of these fears is standing between you and your destiny?

1.  No Resources

I feel like I don’t have what it takes to reach my destiny. My weakness are too great, my circumstances are too challenging, and I don’t have the support I need. I’m consumed with envy and bitterness—I don’t want to try any more.

2.  No Freedom

Something has made me feel not free to go after my destiny. It could be a combination of factors: the guilt of my sin, the pain of my past, or the pattern I can’t seem to escape.

3.  No Vision

I just can’t see my destiny anymore. I’ve tried before and it didn’t end up the way I wanted. I’ve simply quit and stopped believing.

4.  No Opportunity

There’s just no way… I want to believe, but I don’t think the door is even open. No one will ask me, hire me, let me in, give me a chance, etc.

Finding Courage, Discovering Your Road

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free,
19 and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.

Luke 4: 18

The time of God’s favor is now… for us to find God’s purpose for each of us. God is the only one who can intercede on our behalf and keep fear from stopping us on the road to our destiny.

God breaks the pattern.

• The Poor → No Resources → ?
• The Captives → No Freedom  → ?
• The Blind → No Vision → ?
• The Oppressed → No Opportunity → ?

Everyone has a road. There’s a road God wants to put you on. It begins with believing again, and making choices about how we will respond to our fear.

So if you find yourself burdened by challenging circumstances, past failure, regret, or lack of opportunity, then more then likely, you are on the road God’s laid out for you and need to face your fear to find your destiny.
