You can’t always control who wins elections or what laws are passed, but you can decide to personally live a life of love, service and doing good. Here are some Scriptures on how and why you should get involved in your community and help the people around you today.

Luke 6:38 Voice
Don’t hold back — give freely, and you’ll have plenty poured back into your lap — a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, brimming over. You’ll receive in the same measure you give.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:7-8‬ ‭ERV
‬‬Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. You should not give if it makes you unhappy or if you feel forced to give. God loves those who are happy to give. And God can give you more blessings than you need, and you will always have plenty of everything. You will have enough to give to every good work.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31:8-9‬ ‭ERV
‬‬Speak up for people who cannot speak for themselves. Help people who are in trouble. Stand up for what you know is right, and judge all people fairly. Protect the rights of the poor and those who need help.

Matthew 9:36-38 Voice
Whenever crowds came to Him, He had compassion for them because they were so deeply distraught, malaised, and heart-broken. They seemed to Him like lost sheep without a shepherd. Jesus understood what an awesome task was before Him, so He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send more workers into His harvest field.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:35-36‬ ‭MSG
‬I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You’ll never—I promise—regret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we’re at our worst. Our Father is kind; you be kind.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11:25‬ ‭NLT‬‬
The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Matthew 10:42 MSG
This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice.
