Pray, and keep praying. Be alert and thankful when you pray. [3] And while you are at it, add us to your prayers. Pray that God would open doors and windows and minds and eyes and hearts for the word so we can go on telling the mystery of the Anointed, for this is exactly why I am currently imprisoned. [4] Pray that I will proclaim this message clearly and fearlessly as I should. [5] Be wise when you engage with those outside the faith community; make the most of every moment and every encounter. [6-8] When you speak the word, speak it gracefully (as if seasoned with salt), so you will know how to respond to everyone rightly.

Colossians 4:2-8 Voice

I love how this scripture talks about praying that God will open doors, windows, minds, eyes and hearts for the Word. When we keep on praying no matter what and we stay grateful, we will not only have the faith to handle what we are going through, but we will be able to see beyond ourselves, our emotions, and our circumstances.

Prayer allows us to see the opportunities that God provides us. Sometimes opportunities mask themselves as obstacles, and we don’t even see the opportunity that is before our eyes because we are so anxious about our day to day life or upset about having to deal with another setback. We need to be devoted to prayer to make the most of every moment, every encounter, and every conversation, because we never know what one prayer can do to change a life.

Are you devoted to prayer or do you easily give up in your prayers?

Do you pray to see the opportunities in every obstacle, setback or challenge you experience in your day-to-day life?

This is a post in a series called “15 Days to Become a Force For Good,” which is a follow up to our 2017 Expo.
