Summer is coming, and we all know what that means, every kind of camp, program, play-date, and extracurricular activity you could possibly imagine. When the kids are out of school, it can be easy to want to load on the activities without thinking about which programs will actually leave a positive impact on your kids. You want to keep them busy, but provide them with experiences that will benefit them in the long run. Above the Rim, our middle school summer hoop league that will begin this summer, provides such impact. Here are three reasons why Above the Rim is a great influential program you can sign your kid up for.

1. Mentorship

Since this program’s main goal and purpose is to give kids basketball, character, and relationship skills, Above the Rim will focus on weekly clinics that provide the mentorship and training your kid may need. With very qualified and big-hearted volunteers as coaches, your kid will be able to interact with and learn from adults who are invested in helping them do well and succeed, learning important life lessons along the way.

2. Friendship

Middle school is such a crucial time for kids to make friends with those who will care about and positively influence them. This program provides the outlet they need to become close to peers without being put in a negative environment. They get to learn to make friends in a healthy, productive way that does not involve compromise and promotes team-building and watching out for each other.

3. Ready for the High School League!

The middle school league will consist mostly of training, skill-development, and scrimmages. This training will provide for your kids needed strengths for the rest of their lives. But these skills will also pay off when your child enters high school, now there is a high school basketball league that they can be a part of once they enter their teenage years and need even as much mentorship and friendship as possible. These friendships formed in middle school will already be established, which will help them in high school and for the rest of their lives.
